Wilderness Survival Advice

When it comes to survival the Boy Scouts' motto is my best advice: "Be Prepared". Before you go into the wild for hiking, camping or recreational gold prospecting, plan ahead. Make sure you take a first aid kit and you know how to use it. If possible bring a cell phone and/or flares to try to signal rescuers. Tell somone where you are going and when you will be back. That way someone will know you are missing. It is preferable to travel with at least one other person. Bring plenty of water with you or a disinfecting kit.
