Holland Lighthouse

Holland, Michigan

Holland Lighthouse is located on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan at the mouth of Lake Macatawa. Affectionately known as "Big Red" (though our picture at sunset does not do it justice). It is a beautiful lighthouse. While the Lighthouse is located on the south side of the mouth, the best views are from Holland State Park on the north side. The state park is displayed on most maps. To get there, turn east off of US 31 onto Lakewood Blvd. Then left on Douglas Ave. Douglas Ave will turn into Ottawa Beach Road. Stay on Ottawa Beach Road and you will arrive at the park. The park is well marked with signs. On a scale of 1 to 5 stars, we give it 4 stars.

P.S. We visited Holland in April when the town celebrates its Dutch heritage with a tulip festival. There is a full-scale working windmill. It is a wonderful time to visit.
